Sadness has a shape and moves. Depression is more often an absence — of energy, of interest, of the sense that anything would be worth the effort even if you could summon it. ## Where trauma and depression meet A lot of what presents as depression sits on top of unprocessed experience. When a nervous system has spent years braced, shutting down is what it does next. That's why treating only the mood can leave the engine running. ## How I work with it If there's trauma underneath, EMDR or Brainspotting address it directly. EFT gives you something usable on the days when getting up is the whole task. And we go at the pace depression allows, not the pace you think you should manage. ## Honest scope I work alongside medication where someone's prescriber is involved — I don't prescribe and I don't advise on medication. If your depression is severe and you need coordinated care across several providers, I'd help you find that rather than take it on alone.
