Therapy Intensives
Weekly therapy has a rhythm, and for a lot of people it works. But there's a particular frustration that brings people to intensives: you arrive, you spend fifteen minutes getting back to where you left off, you finally drop into something real — and the hour is over. Next week you start again. An intensive removes that ceiling.
How it works
An intensive is generally three days of four-hour sessions, in person at the Albany office. We build the shape around you — some people come for a single extended day, others for the full three.
Before we begin we'll have a planning conversation so the days are structured, not improvised: what we're targeting, what resourcing you need first, and how we'll land you safely at the end of each day.
Intensives use the same methods as ongoing therapy — EMDR, Flash Technique, EFT and Matrix Reimprinting, and Brainspotting — with the advantage that there's room to prepare, process and integrate inside the same stretch of time.
Who they don't suit
Intensives ask a lot of your nervous system. If you're in acute crisis, newly out of a dangerous situation, or without much support around you right now, we'd start with regular sessions and build toward this.
That's a conversation we'll have honestly on the consult — I'd rather tell you it's not the right moment than sell you three days you're not ready for.
Investment
Intensive psychotherapy runs $290–$900 depending on session length (75 to 200 minutes, the equivalent of 1.5 to 4 standard sessions).
RhythmLife is self-pay; superbills are provided if you want to pursue out-of-network reimbursement. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies.
Who intensives tend to suit
- You've done therapy before, you understand yourself well, and insight alone hasn't shifted the thing.
- Your schedule doesn't tolerate a standing weekly appointment.
- You're travelling in, or you live elsewhere in California or Texas and want in-person work.
- There's one identifiable event you want to address rather than an open-ended process.
- Weekly sessions feel like they end just as something starts to move.
Intensives aren't something to book off a webpage.
